Course Content for CPR –

Good Samaritan Law, complications of CPR, stroke, heart attack, CPR barriers, choking, AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and CPR for the adult, child and infant.

Each student will be required to practice hands-on CPR skills in this course.

Using of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), shock, bleeding, diabetes, asthma, anaphylaxis, seizures, internal and external injuries, burns, poisoning, bites and stings, heat emergencies and cold emergencies.

This video-based, Instructor-led course teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both in- and out-of-hospital settings. This course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. It includes adult, child, and infant rescue techniques. This course also teaches relief of choking. All course topics will be completed within 2-3 hours. The cost of this course will be $60.00. 

Audience: For healthcare providers such as EMS personnel, physician assistants, physicians, nurses, nursing students, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, and others who must have a credential (card) documenting successful completion of a BLS for Healthcare Provider Course.

American Red Cross First Aid with Adult / Pediatric CPR/AED

This course is the all in-person course, there is no online course work required for this course!

American Red Cross CPR training classes give you the information and the skills you need to help adults, children and infants during breathing and cardiac emergencies. Designed to help non-medical professionals provide assistance in times of crisis. Our courses allow you to gain an understanding of a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Asthma emergencies

Arizona Administrative Code r6-6-901, commonly known as Article 9, is an Arizona law. This law relates to how the Divisions of Developmental Disabilities will proactively and positively support people's positive and adaptive behavior. This course includes a clear definition of techniques that are prohibited from use at any time, techniques that require a Division approved Behavior plan and/or techniques that require no prior approval. Course taught by a Certified Master Article 9 Instructor. Course 3.5 Hours.  The cost of this course is $35.00.

The primary purpose of the American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training course is to provide youth who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. This training will help participants to develop leadership skills; learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe and help children behave; and learn about basic childcare and basic first aid. Also includes proper child supervision, safety walk-through, choking hazards, water hazards, SIDS awareness, hand washing, feeding an infant and a child, burping, diapering, removing gloves, handling a crying baby, recognizing an emergency, personal safety, head / neck injuries and when to call 911. CPR will be demonstrated for Child and Infant however there will not be a full CPR certification provided.

This course is recommended for youth from ages 11 - 16 years old.

Duration - Approximately 6.5 hours

Course Cost: $70.00

Please make sure to bring a lunch and snacks along with, there will be a lunch break included in this course. Water is available in the classroom.

YOU MUST PRESENT COMPLETION CERTIFICATE FROM ONLINE PROGRAM BEFORE YOUR SKILLS ASSESSMENT. 

Part 1, Online Course - You will be sent a link to access the American Heart Association's BLS for Healthcare Providers Online part 1 course.  It will come directly from the AHA in a separate email and may take 1-2 business days.  You may access the course as often as you would like for up to 24 months from the initial activation of your course. Please contact technical support at 1-888-242-8883 between the hours of 9-5 p.m. EST (GMT-5) M-F if you have any questions or technical difficulties.  Online Part 1 will take approximately 2 hours.

Parts 2 & 3, Skills Practice and Testing – You will attend the hands-on Parts 2 & 3 on the date and location selected above.  Make sure you bring your completion certificate with you to your skills session for proof of course completion.  You have 60 days from your completion date of the online course to successfully complete parts 2 and 3.  

All three parts must be completed in order to receive an AHA BLS Course Completion Card.  This is the same card you would receive if you took the Classroom version.  

Please note that the Online Courses are non-refundable. Once you schedule your skills session, your session fee is non-refundable/non-transferable in case of no-show or failed sessions.

The American Heart Association’s ACLS Course builds on the foundation of lifesaving BLS for Healthcare Providers skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR. This advanced, instructor-led classroom course highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care. The ACLS course also covers airway management and related pharmacology.  In the ACLS Course, skills are taught in large, group sessions and small, group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented. Successful course completion includes demonstrating skills competency in all learning stations and passing the CPR and AED skills test, bag-mask ventilation skills test, a Megacode test and a written test. A current ACLS provider manual is required to attend. If you do not own the updated version, you must purchase before or the day of class. The current ACLS Manual is available at our Mesa office to pick up prior to class. 

Audience: ACLS is designed for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiovascular emergencies. This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units. The AHA’s course is the premier ACLS training for healthcare providers. The evidence-based content and well-tested teaching methodology can dramatically improve the learning and retention of lifesaving skills.

Course length: Approximately 10 to 12 hours

Cost: $150.00 - If you'd like to add BLS it will be an additional $50.00

Upon successful completion, students receive an American Heart Association ACLS Provider eCard, valid for two years.

A current ACLS provider manual is required to attend. If you do not own the updated version, you must purchase prior to class. The current ACLS Manual is available at our Mesa office to pick up prior to class. 

Audience: The material in this course is targeted to those experienced ACLS providers who routinely use ACLS as a part of their job duties.  The participant in this course is a currently active healthcare provider based in a setting that requires ACLS knowledge and skills as a condition of employment. This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units. The AHA’s course is the premier ACLS training for healthcare providers. The evidence-based content and well-tested teaching methodology can dramatically improve the learning and retention of lifesaving skills.

Prerequisites: Participant must have and show their current AHA ACLS Provider Card.

Cost: $150.00 per person - If you would like to add BLS, it will be $50.00 extra

Providers enrolling in the ACLS Renewal course are required to be proficient in the following:

•           Performing BLS CPR skills using 2020 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC

•           Reading and interpreting ECGs

•           Understanding ACLS drugs

•           Performing the BLS Survey and the ACLS Survey

The American Heart Association’s PALS Course is an Instructor-led, classroom-based course that enhances healthcare providers’ skills in the treatment of pediatric arrest and periarrest patients. The goal of the PALS Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes. The course uses a series of simulated pediatric emergencies to teach and reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation and team dynamics.

Audience: The PALS Course is for healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children. These include personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units, such as physicians, nurses, paramedics and others who need a PALS course completion card for job or other requirements.

Prequisites:  Students taking this renewal course must present a current PALS completion card to attend this class.  Also, before taking PALS, students should have a mastery of infant and child BLS skills. They should also be able to recognize various heart rhythms, be familiar with different types of airway management tools and their use and have knowledge of the drugs commonly used to treat cardiovascular irregularities. Please bring your current Provider Card to class to document renewal eligibility.

BEFORE THE COURSE, it is required to review and understand the information in your PALS Provider Manual and successfully complete the Precourse Self-Assessment with a passing score of 70. American Red Cross Blended First Aid CPR AED Course (online and in-person)

Designed to help non-medical professionals to provide assistance in times of crisis, our courses allow you to gain an understanding of First Aid CPR AED best practices for a wide range of conditions, including:

Length:  Approximately 1.5 – 2 Hours Online / 1.5 hour In Person

Adult and Pediatric First Aid CPR AED will be covered during this certification.  This course includes the online and in-person skills assessment.

Your scheduled Date/Time is your appointment to complete your hands on skills session with a certified Instructor to receive an American Red Cross eCard.

 Please make sure to bring proof of course completion with you to the class. 

This course is designed for the general public not geared toward healthcare providers. If you need a BLS certification, please give our office a call to find the class you need.

Our purpose of holding this course is to provide an avenue for Medical Professionals to obtain or renew IV insertion skills and obtain CMEs; CEUs for their respective licensing boards.

This course is open to Doctors, PAs, NPs, Nurses, Paramedics, EMTs, various medical and nursing students as well as ancillary persons involved in IV insertion. This may include Naturopathic MAs who need to refresh their skills. It will also include some phlebotomy practice for those needing to participate in initial needle insertion techniques. A variety of devices will be reviewed and used to gain a broad base of needle and catheter usage. You will have opportunities to practice as many insertions as you need to build confidence in your ability. Calculations for IV solutions will also be covered.

A Certificate of Participation will be issued at the completion of the course.

Course Structure:

This is 1-day weekend course, Saturday from 8:00AM to 4:00PM.

Each day consists of instruction and skills demonstration and practice followed by an exam at the end of class on Sunday.

Curriculum:

The IV Insertion Techniques course reviews basic IV insertion techniques.

NAEMT's Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) is recognized around the world as the leading continuing education program for prehospital emergency trauma care. The mission of PHTLS is to promote excellence in trauma patient management by all providers involved in the delivery of prehospital care.  PHTLS is developed by NAEMT in cooperation with the American College of Surgeons' Committee on Trauma. The Committee provides the medical direction and content oversight for the PHTLS program. 

PHTLS courses improve the quality of trauma care and decrease mortality. The program is based on a philosophy stressing the treatment of the multi-system trauma patient as a unique entity with specific needs. PHTLS promotes critical thinking as the foundation for providing quality care. It is based on the belief that, given a good fund of knowledge and key principles, EMS practitioners are capable of making reasoned decisions regarding patient care.

The AHA Instructor Course teaches the methods needed to effectively instruct others in the BLS Provider and / or Heartsaver resuscitation courses. The American Heart Association requires that Instructors be at least 16 years of age to complete an instructor course. A BLS Instructor will be qualified to teach the BLS Provider Course as well as the Heartsaver CPR AED Course.  If you are planning on teaching First Aid you will also need to complete the AHA Heartsaver First Aid online program. The cost of this program is included within the class fee.  

Course Pricing

If you are teaching only BLS and or CPR AED the instructor course will be $245.00

If you are teaching BLS and or First Aid CPR AED the instructor course fee will be $335.00

 Mandatory Course Prerequisites

  1. Possess a current AHA BLS Provider card. 
  2. Successfully complete the BLS Instructor Essentials Online Course (included in the cost of the course) and print the course completion certificate. Please contact our office with the steps to complete this module. 
  3. If you are planning on teaching First Aid you will also need to complete the AHA Heartsaver First Aid online program. The cost of this program is included within the class fee. At the completion of this online program, you will receive another completion certificate that we will need a copy of as well.  

If you do not plan to teach First Aid, then step 3 is not required.

Monitoring:  Each instructor candidate is required to complete an evaluation of one of our BLS courses in either Mesa or Glendale. This needs to be completed within 90 days of the instructor trainer course. An instructor card can not be issued until this is complete and you have registered on the AHA Instructor network under our training center.

Upon completion of the Instructor training and evaluation, it is the instructor candidate’s responsibility to purchase the required Instructor Manual and DVD Set and any teaching equipment needed to teach the desired program. Proof of purchase will need to be sent in before you will be able to start teaching.

***The fee for the BLS Instructor Essentials and First Aid course is nonrefundable. 

To become a ASHI BLS (CPR) instructor, the cost will be $245.00. If you would like to teach BLS / First Aid / CPR AED the cost will be $315.00 total for the instructor training. This does not include any of your instructor material and or equipment.

 The prerequisite for this course would be to obtain an ASHI BLS / First Aid certification, this course is offered for $60.00 and is available weekly in Mesa or Glendale.

After the instructor course you will have 90 days to come in and complete an evaluation and there will also be an instructor development test that is completed online. Your evaluation course can be completed either in Mesa or Glendale. Once these steps are completed you will receive your instructor certification card sent to your email. Before you start teaching you will also need to send in proof of purchase of your teaching equipment and materials. ASHI does require that you have the instructor package for the program you are going to be teaching, BLS and or First Aid CPR AED. There are student textbooks available to purchase as well, although they are not required. In the instructor class we will cover where to purchase these materials and the options available for manikins and AED trainers.

Course Duration: Approximately 7.5 hours

ROSTER / CARD INFORMATION:

The student to instructor ratio is 10:1 for each roster. The card pricing is below. You have 30 days to turn each roster from the date of the class, once the paperwork is turned in the cards will be mailed to the instructor. The cards are mailed out blank and it is the instructor’s responsibility to fill in the names and disperse them to the students who took class.

There will be a $10.00 roster fee for each roster turned in, below is the cost of the course completion cards.
